The short answer
Yes, we install wallpaper throughout Lake County, about 29 miles from our Orlando base. We handle prep, removal and installation, and we schedule visits so longer drives fit cleanly into the project.
Lake County sits roughly 29 miles west and northwest of our Orlando shop, and the drive takes us past more water than most visitors would guess. The county lives up to its name, with chains of freshwater lakes, rolling sandy hills and a mix of older lakefront cottages and brand-new subdivisions. We travel out for wallpaper installation, removal and wall repair, and we plan those trips so the distance never becomes your problem.
Houses Near the Water Need a Closer Look
Homes set close to a lake tend to see more moisture in the air, and screened porches or sliding doors that open straight onto the water let that damp air inside. Paper hung on a wall that never fully dries will loosen at the seams and edges first. On Lake County jobs, we pay extra attention to exterior walls, rooms beside lanais, and anywhere a window frame has shown staining.
When we find a soft spot or a stain, we would rather pause and talk it through than paper over it. Sometimes the answer is simply a better primer; sometimes it is a repair that should happen before any wallcovering goes up.
Old Cottages and New Builds Call for Different Prep
Much of the county mixes two housing eras. Older homes often have plaster or painted block walls with decades of paint layers, while the newer two-story stucco houses spreading across the hills have fresh drywall with a light texture. Neither is ready for paper straight away.
- Older walls: scrape loose paint, fill cracks along mortar lines, and skim coat where texture would show through
- Newer drywall: sand down orange-peel texture if needed and seal raw joint compound so paste does not soak in unevenly
- Both: a primer matched to the wallcovering, applied and dried before hanging
How We Schedule Trips Out to Lake County
Because the round trip takes time, we try to group the work into as few visits as practical. A first visit covers measuring, checking the walls and confirming the paper and roll count. When removal or skim coating is needed, we usually do that on its own day so the walls can dry fully, then return to hang.
Planning around the weather matters too. Between June and September, almost every afternoon brings a thunderstorm, and we keep doors closed and the air conditioning running while adhesive cures. Hurricane season runs from early June through the end of November, so during an active storm week we may shift dates and will let you know as early as we can.
Projects We Commonly Take On Here
Lake County homeowners ask us for feature walls in great rooms with tall ceilings, natural grasscloth in quiet offices, wallpaper in guest baths, murals in kids' rooms, and removal of dated borders and patterns in older homes. We also hang vinyl wallcoverings for small businesses that want something more durable than paint.
