Wall Mural Installation in Windermere

The short answer

We install wallpaper murals in Windermere homes, including custom-sized prints. Accurate measuring before you order and careful panel alignment on the day are what keep the image seamless.

A wallpaper mural is a single picture split into numbered panels, and getting it onto the wall means every panel has to land in exactly the right spot. In Windermere, where homes range from established lakeside properties to newer gated neighborhoods, we see murals go up in children's rooms, home theaters, dining nooks and even screened lanai entries leading in from the pool. We come out about 10 miles west from Orlando, measure the wall precisely, help size the artwork before it is printed, and hang the panels so the image reads as one continuous scene.

Measure first, order second

Most mural trouble starts before the paper arrives. Walls are rarely perfectly square, ceilings dip, and baseboards are not always level. If a mural is printed to the exact nominal dimensions of a wall, there is nothing left to trim, and part of the image may be cut off or the panels may come up short at one corner.

When we measure a Windermere wall, we record width at the top, middle and bottom and height at both ends and the center. We then recommend a print size with bleed, a margin of extra image on every side that gets trimmed away at the ceiling, floor and corners. Many mural sellers ask for this bleed figure at checkout, and we can send it to you in writing.

  • Multiple width and height readings to catch out-of-square walls
  • Notes on outlets, vents, windows and switches inside the image area
  • A recommended bleed margin for the printer
  • A quick check of where key parts of the image will fall, such as a horizon line or a face

Where the important part of the picture lands

A forest scene or a skyline has a focal area, and you probably want it centered over a bed, behind a desk or framed by a doorway. Furniture and outlets can hide or interrupt that area. Before hanging, we hold up the panel order against the wall and confirm with you how the image sits relative to the room. Moving the whole layout a few inches left or right at this stage costs nothing; discovering the problem after the third panel is pasted does.

Types of mural material

Murals come on several substrates, and each hangs differently. Non-woven murals are usually paste-the-wall products that go up dry and can often be removed in whole sheets later. Traditional paper murals expand when wet and need consistent booking time so every panel stretches the same amount. Vinyl and peel-and-stick murals work for some rooms, though thin self-adhesive films can show every bump in textured drywall common in Central Florida homes.

If the room gets heavy afternoon sun through large windows, we will mention fade resistance. If it is a child's room, a scrubbable vinyl-coated print is often the more practical pick.

Wall prep and climate

Murals are unforgiving on rough walls because a photographic image shows every ripple. We patch, sand and prime so the surface is smooth and evenly sealed. Heavy texture may need a skim coat before the mural can sit flat.

Indoor humidity matters, too. From June through September, Windermere sees hot, sticky afternoons and frequent storms, and a home where the AC cycles off for long periods can push moisture into walls and paper. We ask that the air conditioning run steadily before and after installation so panels dry evenly and seams do not open.

Install day, panel by panel

We lay out every panel on the floor in order and check the numbers against the printed guide. A plumb line is snapped for the first panel, and each one after it is matched along the image, not just the edge, since tiny differences in printing can add up across a wide wall. Excess is trimmed at the ceiling, baseboard and corners once the paste has grabbed.

A typical bedroom-size mural is finished in a single visit. We also hang murals for homeowners in Winter Garden, Ocoee, Bay Lake, Lake Buena Vista and Sky Lake.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Honest prep advice

If your wall has glossy paint, torn drywall facing or a lingering moisture problem, we say so before work starts and suggest the fix that makes sense for that surface.

  2. Patterns that line up

We plot where the repeat falls at eye level and in corners, so the match holds across the whole room instead of drifting by the last strip.

  3. A tidy work area

Drop cloths go down first, scraps leave with us, and paste residue is sponged off trim and ceilings before we call the job done.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 944-3314 and we’ll talk it through.

What size should I order my mural?

Order it larger than the wall to allow trimming. We measure and give you exact dimensions with bleed before you place the order.

Can a mural wrap around a corner?

It can, but the image may shift slightly at the corner because walls are rarely square. We will advise whether a wrap works for your design.

Can you install a mural I already bought?

Yes. We check the panels, the guide and the wall measurements first so we know whether there is enough material to trim.

Are peel-and-stick murals a good idea in Florida?

They can work on smooth walls in steady air conditioning. On textured walls or in humid rooms, a pasted mural usually holds up better.

How long does mural installation take?

A single wall is usually done in one visit, including prep, layout and hanging.

Can a mural be removed later?

Many non-woven murals strip off in sheets when the wall was primed first. Paper murals may need soaking or steam.
